Athletics Announces Partnership with Influxer for Athlete NIL

Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics has announced a new partnership agreement with Influxer which provides SMSU student-athletes an opportunity to monetize their name, image, and likeness (NIL) by allowing fans to purchase personalized, high-quality merchandise.

Influxer has partnered with more than 300 colleges and universities throughout the country to create an opportunity for student-athletes to benefit from their personal brand with high-quality, customized gear. This is SMSU Athletics first partnership to allow Mustang student-athletes an opportunity to earn royalties from the sale of co-branded apparel featuring their name and number, combined with the official SMSU logo.

“Partnering with Influxer, a leader in the athletics industry, shows our commitment to providing Mustang student-athletes the ability to capitalize in today’s NIL landscape," said SMSU Director of Athletics Jen Flowers. “This partnership creates a tool for our student-athletes and we look forward to many of them taking advantage of this opportunity.”

Each student-athlete will be able to create their own webpage linked to SMSU’s online store. Influxer works with student-athletes to personalize co-licensed products and oversees fulfillment of orders as well as payment processing. An easy-to-use mobile app allows student-athletes to apply to marketing campaigns, post deliverables, and conveniently receive payment after completing deals. Influxer provides training and handles tax documents to assist student-athletes in their NIL journey. Sales through Influxer benefit both the individual student-athlete and the Athletics Department through a mutual licensing agreement. Deals through Influxer are non-exclusive, allowing student-athletes to pursue other NIL opportunities as well.
