Pre-Mortuary Science (B.S.) Coursework
Mortuary Science combines behavioral, physical, and applied sciences to prepare graduates for careers as funeral service professionals. Mortuary Science is a bachelor’s degree program. However, two years of college level coursework is typically required for admission into the program.
SMSU provides the required pre-requisite coursework for students who intend to enroll in a mortuary program. A student may transfer into a mortuary science program generally after completing two years of prerequisite coursework from an accredited institution. It is recommended that students complete the general education/liberal arts program of the institution while completing the prerequisite coursework. Some mortuary science schools may provide a 1 year accelerated program for students that have already earned a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited institution.
