Circulation Assistant

Customer Service Associate

Department: Mustang Card Center/Student Center Services Hours per week: 7-12

Qualifications

Overview Statement:  Customer Service Associates at this high profile location assist callers and visitors with information relating to all areas of campus and provide essential support services for the Mustang Card Program. 

Requirements:  Successful candidates will be reliable, have meticulous attention to detail, comfortable working knowledge of computers and software, and a strong sense of customer service.  Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to work independently are necessary.

Duties Performed

  • MUSTANG CARD PRODUCTION (30%)
    • Verify customer identity by strictly following establish procedures.
    • Follow guide lines to capture photo, produce and issue new, replacement, and temporary cards.
    • Determine the cause of a card malfunction, reformat or replace card as necessary, and charge customer for the replacement if necessary.
  • MUSTANG CARD RELATED SERVICES (30%)
    • Become proficient with Atrium and Instant ID Card Production Software through on-the-job training and self-study.
    • Process Mustang Money deposit and purchase transactions.
    • Process Dining Dollar deposits and assist customers with meal plan change requests.
    • Represent the Mustang Card Program at Student Service Fairs.
    • Assist with Registration Day programs and card production/distribution.
  • CUSTOMER RELATIONS (10%)
    • Provide friendly, knowledgeable information to callers and visitors concerning all areas of the SMSU Campus.
    • Receive Mustang Card customer requests in person, by phone, and via email.
    • Independently determine and initiate appropriate responses to customer requests.
    • Follow-up on requests to ensure they have been resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • STUDENT CENTER RELATED SERVICES (20%)
    • Make copies, laminate materials, and scan documents for customers.
    • Provide Lost and Found services for the entire campus.
    • Issue locker rental contracts.
    • Process vending machine refunds.
    • Maintain Hometown Newspaper Program and informational kiosks/display cases.
  • OFFICE DUTIES (10%)
    • Handle cash and check transactions, balance cash drawer, process bank deposits.
    • Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook effectively to maintain accurate records and communicate with customers and staff. Previous experience with these programs is preferred.
    • Keep office equipment and appearance clean and well maintained, request technical service as needed.

Student Election Engagement Fellowship

Department: Center for Civic & Community Engagement Hours per week: 5-10

Pay: $15.00/hr

Qualifications

  • A commitment to educating peers about the importance of voter registration and becoming an informed voter
  • Self-starters who take initiative to develop and implement their work plans high degree of responsibility/follow-through
  • Not presently serving in a fellowship role for another partisan or nonpartisan organization

Duties Performed

  • Participate in nonpartisan online training sessions.
  • Develop and refine work plan and collaborate with other Fellows.
  • Meet weekly with fellowship administrator, Director of Career Services and Center for Civic & Community Engagement.
  • Document action plan, goals, activities, and deliverables. This includes but is not limited to the number of students reached and activities completed.
  • Collaborate and partner with student organizations, campus administrators, and faculty to organize voter registration, voter education, and voter engagement efforts at SMSU.
  • Plan and complete at least 6 total election engagement activities (2 voter registration, 2 voter education, and 2 GOTV activities).
  • Compose and submit a post-election report summarizing activities and accomplishments.
