The Alec Bond Student Essay Contest takes place each academic year in honor of poet and former professor Alec Bond.
Students are eligible to submit written work from English 099/151/251 or EMLS 126/151 from courses taken during the academic year of the current contest. Monetary awards are given to the top entries as a scholarship.
The 2024-2025 contest deadline is Friday, Apr. 11, 2025. Students must submit their essays via Awardspring with a cover sheet. The contest flyer provides more information, which can also be emailed to Eric Doise at eric.doise@smsu.edu.
