Annual Reminder Policy 4.4: Weather Closures

Hello, Mustangs!

As the snow falls, I am taking this opportunity to remind you of campus procedures as it related to weather related closures. In the event of a weather closure we will follow MinnState Policy 4.4 Weather/Short Term Emergency Closings.

Classes:

• Online classes are not cancelled and class would continue online as normal.
• Face-to-face/on-campus classes would be canceled. 
• Hybrid classes - if it is a scheduled to be in-person on the day of closure, then class would be cancelled, and if it scheduled to be online on the day of closure then class would continue.  

In the event of a closure, employees are excused from work for the remainder of the work day unless otherwise notified due to telework or essential worker status.

Decisions are made as early as possible but it may not be until early morning.  Closure notices are sent out by Star Alert, on the SMSU website, and on various radio and tv stations and their respective websites. If you are not signed up for the Star Alert please sign up to be notified of emergency, safety, and weather announcement for the SMSU campus.
