SMSU selected to host 2026 NCAA Super Region Wrestling Tournament

The NCAA Division II Championships Committee recently announced that Southwest Minnesota State University has been selected to host a 2026 NCAA Division II Super Region Wrestling Tournament inside the R/A Facility.

“SMSU is excited to host this outstanding championship. Our campus and community take great pride in putting on outstanding events and this will be no exception,” said Jen Flowers, SMSU Director of Athletics. “We appreciate the NCAA selecting us and looking forward to showcasing the best wrestling in Division II in 2026.”

The one-day competition is expected to take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026.

“Hosting the regional championships is a momentous opportunity for our university, our program, and the city of Marshall,” said Chayse Jackson, SMSU head wrestling coach. “Over the weekend, we will bring in many of the top Division II teams in the country with a national qualifying spot on the line. This is THE tournament to watch!” '

SMSU has twice hosted NCAA wrestling regionals in 2005 and 2009. The 2024 NCAA Super Region V tournament was hosted by Minot State University, while the 2025 tournament will be held in Sioux Falls, S.D., and hosted by Augustana University.
