SMSU's Stoltzman named WBCA/D2CIDA National Player of the Week

Southwest Minnesota State senior guard Bri Stoltzman was named the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA) Division II Player of the Week.

As announced on Tuesday, Jan. 21. A four-time Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week so far this season, Stoltzman becomes the first Mustang in program history to earn national weekly recognition. Over the weekend, Stoltzman averaged 31.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.

A native of Mankato, Minn., Stoltzman set a career-high scoring 41 points on 79 percent (15 of 19) shooting with eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a win over Northern State University. The 41 points rank second in the NCAA this season and are the most by an SMSU women's basketball player since 2004 and the most in an NSIC game since Jan. 18, 2020. She followed that with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in a win over the University of Mary on Saturday.

SMSU's Stoltzman was named WBCA/D2CIDA National Player of the Week. For the season, Stoltzman ranks third in the NSIC in scoring (18.8) and leads the league in field goal percentage (56.1). The 18.8 points per game and 56.1 field goal percentage are both good enough for 18th in Division II. The Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA) selects the Division II Player of the Week awards.
