WINTER RECESS BULLETIN
Saturday, December 14, 2024 through Tuesday, January 7, 2025
SMSU WILL BE CLOSED ON DECEMBER 25 AND JANUARY 1. Facilities will be secured after 5:00 pm each of those days.
Southwest Minnesota State University will have limited services available from Saturday, December 14, 2024, through Tuesday, January 7, 2025. If a particular service is needed that is listed as not available, please contact that office/department directly.

Timeline for Workday timesheets for pay period ending December 17, 2024 (12/04/24-12/17/24)
• Employees must submit by 12 noon on Friday, December 13, 2024
• Supervisors must approve by 9 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024

ELECTRICITY AND HEAT will be maintained at normal levels. Heating of our facilities is impacted by the lighting in use and the number of people in the facilities. Please be aware that the facilities may be cooler than when the campus is in full use.
SNOW REMOVAL will be maintained on a limited basis as follows:
• Appropriate sidewalks and walkways for access to Student Center and the RA facility
• Clearance of all fire lanes including Stadium Drive, Mustang Trail, Wefald Drive, State Street and Birch Street
• Access to Science and Math, Science and Tech, PE, Residence Halls, Founders Hall and IL building entrances
• A-1 and a section of B-1 parking lots
PARKING Specific and General Reserve spaces are enforced at all times, along with all other parking regulations.
OFFICE SCHEDULES:
BUSINESS SERVICES will be closed December 25 and January 1, but open the remainder of winter recess with normal hours Monday through Friday.
CAREER SERVICES will be closed December 23 through January 2.
CENTER FOR CIVIC AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT will be closed December 23 - January 2.
COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING and WEB OFFICE will be closed December 24–26 and Dec. 31–Jan.1 with limited staffing on Dec. 23, 27, 30 and Jan. 2-3. Please email individual staff members to make appointments between Dec. 23 and Jan. 3. Regular operations and staffing will resume Jan. 6. DEANS’ OFFICE & ONLINE LEARNING will be open by appointment only.
DEEANN GRIEBEL STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER will be closed December 25th and January 1st. For the remainder of winter recess, limited staff will be available in person and/or virtually between 8:00am – 4:30pm. For assistance, call 507-537-6484 or email success@smsu.edu. FACILITIES & PHYSICAL PLANT Maintenance building office will be open 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The office will close at 12 noon on December 24th & 31st. Facilities & Physical Plant maintenance staff will be available 7:00 am – 3:30 pm during the break. If you have a building emergency outside of these hours, contact Public Safety at 7252.
FINANCIAL AID The Financial Aid Office will be closed on December 24th through December 26th. For the remainder of winter break, the office will be open 9:00 am – 3:00 pm but with limited staff available.
HUMAN RESOURCES will be closed December 23rd through December 27th and on January 1st. HR will be open normal business hours outside of designated closures listed.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES The Technology Resource Center will have limited staff from December 20 – January 10. From December 20 – January 10, we will be open from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except for December 25 and January 1. The TRC will not be open on Saturdays or Sundays. If any changes need to be made, a notice will be posted.
MCFARLAND LIBRARY will be closed on December 25 and January 1 and also on Saturdays and Sundays. They will maintain business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm for the remaining days of winter recess. Research Help services are not available during winter recess.
MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING CENTER will be closed on December 25 and January 1.
OFFICE OF ADMISSION will be closed Wednesday, December 25th and Wednesday, January 1st. The Office will otherwise be open from 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday thru Friday. However, it should be noted that there will be no campus visits for prospective students on December 24th, 26th, and 31st.
PRESIDENT, PROVOST & VP OFFICES will be open with limited staffing. Please call ahead to make appointment.
REGISTRATION & RECORDS OFFICE will be open 8:00am - 4:30pm during the break but closed Wednesday, December 25, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Grades are due Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 5:00 pm.
RESIDENCE LIFE OFFICE The Residence Life Office will be closed December 26 and December 31. The office will be open on weekdays from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm, December 20 – January 8. Regular hours resume on Thursday, January 9.
SCHEDULING AND EVENT PLANNING will be closed December 23 – 27, and January 1st but open the remainder of break. To reach the Scheduling office, email Scheduling.Office@smsu.edu or call (507) 537-7110.
SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES will be open by appointment only. All appointments are set up through Office 365/Bookings or email GraduateStudies@SMSU.edu. The Office will be closed on the following days: December 24, 25, 31, and January 1 and 2.
POST OFFICE/DUPLICATING/SMALL FREIGHT There will not be mail and package delivery to offices December 21st - January 12th. Notification of package arrival will be by email. Please have all outgoing mail to the Post Office window by 11am each day. Full services will resume on January 13th.

SWITCHBOARD SERVICES at the Student Center will serve as the main information source for employees or vendors during this time. The switchboard will be operational every day 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday, with the exception of December 25th and January 1st, when it will not be staffed.
UPWARD BOUND offices in Marshall will be closed December 23 - 27
