SMSU Theatre to host touring production of Man Cave, Feb. 12-13

SMSU Theatre will present the touring production of Man Cave, a one-man sci-fi climate change tragicomedy, written and performed by guest artist Timothy Mooney on February 12 and 13 at 7:30 pm in the SMSU Black Box Theatre (Fine Arts 112). Performances are free and open to the public. Admission is available only at the door, and seating is limited. Free parking is available in lot B-1 behind the Fine Arts Building.
In Man Cave, the last man on earth broadcasts warnings for anyone who might still be out there listening. As he gradually accepts that maybe there ISN’T anyone left to listen, he turns his attention to the vast expanse of space, trying to explain to other species how not to do what we did. Man Cave is a stirring rallying cry for saving the planet, dripping with irony and edgy humor.
Writer and actor Timothy Mooney is the author of the acting textbook, Acting at the Speed of Life, was the founder and former editor of The Script Review, and was the Artistic Director of Chicago's Stage Two Theatre, where he produced nearly fifty plays in five years. Tim threw himself into the writing part of his career with seventeen fun rhyming variations of the comedies of Molière, now produced around the world. Tim's very first one-man play, Molière than Thou, has been presented over 500 times, giving some hundred thousand students their first introduction to Molière. Tim continues to present Molière across the US, along with other one-man plays, including the “Breakneck Shakespeare” series. He brings these plays and a series of workshops to high schools and colleges throughout the United States through the course of the school year.
