The SMSU School of Agriculture announced it will host the first-ever Ag Camp on July 15-17, 2024 on the SMSU campus and with tours of local agriculture-related businesses.

SMSU Agriculture Camp is an interactive experience for students to gain real-world exposure to the agriculture industry. The camp participants will engage in an off-site tour each day including the SMSU Research Plot where they will have the opportunity to practice with farm equipment such as tractors, combines, tillers, and agricultural drones as well as exploring a crop field to see how their food is grown.

Other tours will include:

  • Lingen Dairy Farm
  • trūShrimp Greenhouse
  • Schwan’s Specialty Food Plant
  • Marshall Animal Clinic
  • AURI (Agricultural Utilization Research Institute)

The camp will be held Monday through Wednesday, July 15-17 and runs 9:00 am-3:00 pm each day. The daily schedule includes:

  • 9:00-9:30am Welcome
  • 9:30-11:45am Tour 1
  • 11:45am-12:45pm Lunch
  • 12:45-2:45pm Tour 2
  • 2:45-3:00pm Camp Conclusion

Lunch and snacks will be provided by SMSU. Campers can be dropped off and picked up at SMSU. Drop-off and pick-up location details will be given to campers upon registration. The camp is free of charge and geared toward students ages 10-14. Space is limited so register today!
