To learn more about the five criteria, the executive summary posted on the website under "2024 site visit" is a shorter overview.  https://www.smsu.edu/administration/hlc/index.html The complete Assurance Argument is also posted there.

HLC accreditation is critical to our institution. HLC verifies that we meet standards for quality and continuous improvement. HLC accreditation is required for many forms of federal funding and financial aid, as well as professional licensures.

The HLC site visit is the culmination of many months (16+) of preparation by the HLC/Strategic Planning committee members involved in writing and reviewing the 122-page assurance argument.

It’s a time to step back and look at what we do, identify what we can do better, and plan for ways to improve so that we can continue providing an outstanding educational experience to Mustangs for many years to come.

Thank you for all that you do to make SMSU such a great place to work and learn.
