The Southwest Minnesota Orchestra opens the season with two special concerts celebrating music from Latin America. The first is on Sunday, November 3 at 4:00 pm in the Schwan Community Center for the Performing Arts at Marshall High School. The second is a chamber music recital on Monday, November 4 at 7:30 pm in the SMSU Campus Religious Center.

The November 3 concert “Viva Musica Latina: Music from Latin America" features the guest artists Luis Casal, violin; Isaac Casal, cello; and Mariana Airaudo, piano and the US premiere of “Cruces” from Panamanian composer Samuel Robles, music Mexican composer Arturo Márquez, and a rarely Heard ‘Triple Concerto’ by Ludwig van Beethoven. Tickets are available at the door: $12 adults, $5 students/children, $25 family.

The Nov. 4th event is a chamber music concert featuring the same guest artists performing at the SMSU Campus Religious Center at 7:30 pm. This will include chamber music from Latin America and is free and open to the public.

These performances are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
