SMSU to Host Events for Native American Heritage Month

SMSU will be hosting a number of events for Native American Heritage Month throughout the month of November. The focus of events is the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples epidemic across the United States. SMSU student clubs are coordinating and sponsoring the events to bring awareness and attention to this historic, social, and criminal justice issue.

All-month long, the REDress Project Art Installation will be on exhibit in the William Whipple Gallery in Bellows Academic. The gallery is located in and open the same hours as the McFarland Library at SMSU: http://www.smsu.edu/go/libraryhours 

Monday, November 4 at 6:00-7:30pm: Juliet Rudie, the executive director of the Minnesota Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office, will give a presentation in the William Whipple Gallery

Friday, November 15 at 6:00pm: "Bring Her Home" Film showing in CH201 followed by a panel discussion featuring: Leya Hale, director, and Ruth Buffalo, former North Dakota State Representative.

Tuesday, November 19 at 6:00pm: Zoom Artist Visit with the original artist of the REDress Project Jamie Black-Morsette in the William Whipple Gallery.

Student club sponsors include: SMSU Criminal Justice Club, Oyate Club, Drama (Theatre) Club, Social Justice Club, and LatinX Club.
