Winter Meltdown 2025 is Feb. 3-8

Southwest Minnesota State University will celebrate Winter Meltdown with a series of events the week of Feb. 3-8, 2025. Winter Meltdown is an annual SMSU tradition, a time for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to participate in fun activities to help beat the ‘winter blues.’
Throughout the week, the SMSU Student Activities Committee has planned events for students. The week culminates with events on Saturday, Feb. 8 that include the Athletics Hall of Honor program at 10:30am in the SMSU Conference Center Upper Level and the traditional Tropical Night basketball doubleheader against Winona State. The Mustang men’s basketball game starts at 5:00pm. The women’s basketball game tips off at 7:00pm in the R/A Facility at SMSU.
Monday, Feb 3: Tie Dye Winter Meltdown Shirts Event
- 11 am - 2 pm, SC Patio Lounge
Tuesday, Feb 4: Just Dance Night
- 7 pm - 9 pm, Lower CC
Wednesday, Feb 5: Spin Magic
- 11 am - 2 pm, SC Patio Lounge
Thursday, Feb 6: Create Your Own SMSU Spirit Gear
- 11 am - 2 pm, SC Patio Lounge
Saturday, Feb 8: Polaroid Pics at the Tropical Night Game
- 10am social/10:30 am ceremony, Athletics Hall of Honor Induction, CC Upper Level
- 3:30pm, Pre-game Tropical Night Alumni Social, R/A Facility
- 5 pm/7 pm Men’s BB Game/Women’s BB Game vs. Winona State. Students with ANY VALID COLLEGE ID get into the games for free.
- The SMSU Foundation's "Give to Mustangs, Win a Mustang" program to support SMSU programs and student success will hold the drawing for a Mustang car. To be eligible, donate by the end of day on January 30: https://www.tapkat.org/southwest-minnesota-state-university-foundation
