Certifications for Students
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) exams are available through Mental Health Counseling Center.
How to Register for Exams:
First: Check the schedule online with Mental Health Counseling Center. Be sure to verify testing date and time.
Then: Register for the specific test, day, and time using the online registration process with Mental Health Counseling Center.
ACSM:
- ACSM Certified Personal Trainer® (CPT) -- Certified Personal Trainers develop and implement safe, effective exercise programs to help healthy individuals accomplish their fitness goals.
- ACSM Certified Health Fitness SpecialistSM (HFS) -- Health Fitness Specialists, slightly more advanced in degree than a personal trainer, work with individuals who have medically controlled diseases.
- ACSM Certified Group Exercise InstructorSM (GEI) -- Group Exercise Instructors teach effective, enjoyable group exercise classes and are able to modify exercises based on group needs.
- ACSM membership $10 student – save $60 on exam
NSCA:
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS)
- Certified Special Populations Specialists (CSPS)
- NSCA Certified Personal Trainers (NSCA-CPT)
- Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitators (TSCA-F)
- NSCA membership $65 student –save up to $135 on exam
