About the Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion's primary mission is to help ensure that all students receive the quality education that has become Southwest Minnesota State University’s trademark. As Minnesota becomes increasingly diverse, SMSU has recognized that the academic and social challenges faced by underserved and underrepresented students require the focused efforts in recruitment and retention that the Office of Diversity provides.

By partnering with the campus and regional communities, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion works to ensure that all students maximize their potential and be as successful as possible. Through outreach and educational programs and speakers, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion works to create an environment that recognizes the similarities in all people while celebrating the differences that a diverse university, region, and state provides.
