Program
The Accelerated MBA program through the SMSU North Star Mutual School of Business allows students to graduate with an MBA in 1 year.
Purpose
The purpose of the program is to offer students the opportunity to accelerate their learning by achieving an MBA in a single year rather than the traditional two-year completion cycle.
Degree Explanation
Students enrolled in the 15 graduate credits per academic semester and 6 graduate credits per summer session.
- Undergraduate degree credits are ineligible for our accelerated programs.
- Students cannot enroll in the same concentration/emphasis area as their undergraduate concentration/emphasis area.
Credits
- 6 Graduate credits
- 24 credits – Consisting of MBA Core; 12 credits – Chosen emphasis area
- A minimum GPA (3.0 cumulative GPA) is required, and grades below a C will not be accepted for the degree.
Admissions
To apply for the program, students should complete the required application.
- Prospective students must have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or a GMAT score of 450 or higher.
- Students admitted into the program must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in their graduate courses.
- Students who do not maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 undergo a satisfactory academic progress process, as outlined in SMSU policy.
- This program is not eligible for rolling admissions. Admissions occur every Fall semester.

- If students are in graduate-level courses, we are not able to pay for grant funding for those graduate courses.
- GA funding is eligible for this degree but may not cover the full tuition.
- Work study may be eligible for this degree.
