Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)
Southwest Minnesota State University is offering a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). The emphasis will increase knowledge and skills in research-based practices for working with English-language learners. The emphasis will also lead to a licensure for candidates who have a current MN professional teaching license.
The TESL emphasis is also available as a licensure if you are not looking for a full master's degree. To add English as a Second Language to an existing MN professional teaching license, you can take the 27 credits from the TESL emphasis without taking the core education courses required for a master's degree. For an initial teaching license, you can complete the Post-Baccalaureate TESL program without taking the core education courses required for a master’s degree. Both programs will lead to a K-12 ESL license in Minnesota.
- The TESL emphasis is offered ONLINE.
