Applications for housing at SMSU

It's never too early to submit your housing application! You can submit either an online application or a paper application. Do not fill out both an online application and a paper application; you only need to fill out one.

Online Housing Contract and Application

We are accepting online housing applications through e-Services. During the application process, you will have an opportunity to find and select a roommate, notify us of any special accommodations you may need, sign up for a Living and Learning Community, select a meal plan, and more!

You will be able to make changes to your housing and dining application. Changes will not adjust your priority date for selecting your room.

Your completed application consists of completing your online housing application, signed agreement for housing & dining, and $100.00 pre-payment. The $100.00 pre-payment is required and your application is not considered completed until this is paid.

Applying for housing early will increase your chances of receiving a room in your preferred hall and/or room type. Due to the high demand for Sweetland Hall, students wanting that room type are encouraged to apply as close to October 1 as possible.

Please note: In order to fill out the online contract, you will need to know your Mustang ID to set up your StarID. Contact Admissions at (507) 537-6286 to receive your Mustang ID if you don't already have it.

Read the housing and dining contract before submitting an application to make sure you know all of the policies and procedures.

Paper Housing Application

Download, print, fill out, and mail in with a $100 deposit. Residence Life recommends that you fill out an online contract to better select your housing preferences. Note that neither form of application will guarantee you will be placed in your first choice for room type or house.

Living and Learning Communities

If you are interested in any of our Living and Learning Communities, please read the information on the Living and Learning Communities page. You will need to fill out a housing application as directed above, and then submit the Living and Learning Communities application separately.
