Software available in Labs
All of the computers in all of the labs have Microsoft Office 2021, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. They also have Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender, ArcGIS, Maple, SPSS, Mathematica and Minitab. If you need to use a specific program, feel free to contact the TRC Helpdesk and ask about it. We may be able to install the program on the machines for you.
Network Storage
Every student has a 1TB Cloud Drive through Office 365 called OneDrive. To access it, log into the computers in our Computer Labs or Library, go to OneDrive in a browser of your choice, and you will see your personal files and folders. This should be where you save your documents because the machines in the labs and library will delete any and all changes you make to the computer once it has rebooted every night. This includes all documents and settings. Follow this link if you need help with adding files in OneDrive or contact the TRC at 507-537-6111 or trchelpdesk@smsu.edu.
Printing
There are printers in all of the computer labs on campus and the Mini-Lab in Common West. There is a Colored Printer located on the main floor of the library. The mini-lab in Commons West has a printer, but students are required to supply their own paper if they want to print there.
Printing costs
There is a $25 print quota allowance for all students per semester. If you use your quota, more pages may be purchased at the Technology Resource Center. To refill your quota, please contact the TRChelpdesk@SMSU.edu. You will be able to purchase more pages in increments of $5.00, using your Mustang Money. If you do not have money on your Mustang Money account, you must go to the Mustang Card Center, located above the Residential Restaurant on class days between 9 am and 6 pm. You can also add to your Mustang Money account online by clicking here. Please note that the online deposit option incurs a $1 convenience fee.
If you do not use your initial $25, it will not transfer to the next semester (you will start the next semester with a new $25 quota). However, if you use your initial $25 and purchase additional pages, those purchased pages will transfer to the next semester.
- Black-and-white (one-sided) $0.05
- Color (one-sided) $0.25
