A common pasture and roadside goldenrod with stems growing 2 to 4 feet tall in clumps or patches. The upper leafy part of the stem is hairy. The alternate leaves, which decrease gradually in size upward on the stem, are coarsely toothed and have 3 main veins. Plumes of yellow flower heads, up to ¼ inch wide, nod at the tip and have arching side branches.
