An erect perennial, growing 1 to 2 feet tall, with leaves covered on both sides with soft, white hairs. The leaves, growing up to 4 inches long and ¾ inch wide are usually without teeth and have an aromatic, sagebrush odor when crushed. The less than 1/8 inch wide, grayish flower heads occur in elongated, pyramidal clusters at the tops of the branches.
