Aster Family
A robust, hairy aster with clumped and branched stems growing up to 6 feet. The bases of the alternate, oblong leaves clasp the stem and are up to 4 inches long and 1 inch wide. The deep purple, or sometimes rosy, flower heads are 1 to 1½ inches wide and have more than 30 narrow rays surrounding a yellow disk.
