Aster Family
A stout perennial growing up to 8 feet tall. The smooth, square stems have wide, coarsely toothed, opposite leaves that are united at the base of the stem to form a "cup." The flower heads are 2½ to 4 inches wide and grow on individual branches. The flowers arranged in a spreading cluster and have 20 to 30 yellow rays.
